Equipment

  • Two QGC units (quay cranes) with 41-ton capacity.
  • Three loading arms at the liquid bulk terminal.
  • Eight RTG (gantry cranes) units with 41-ton capacity.
  • Eight 16m³ automatic grabs for bulk handling.
  • General cargo terminal: 2x25 Ton forklifts.
  • 4 grabs of 16m³ + 2 grabs of 8m³ + 3 grabs of 3m³.
  • 4 hoppers of 25m³ + 4 of 18m³.
  • Total handling capacity of 2,400,000 tons per year.

Vessels

From 2014 to 2023, the demand for tankers has steadily increased as a result of improved terminal facilities and higher demand for fuel and vegetable oil imports.

Cargo

Over the last five years, the liquid bulk terminal has recorded significant growth in national fuel imports — particularly with increased tank storage capacity and the commissioning of the new Camel Oil terminal, with 46,200-ton storage capacity.

Port of Nacala Features

North Quay: Total length of 710m, including one dedicated container berth (400m, 14m draft), one liquid bulk berth (10m draft), and one multipurpose berth. Includes a 4,000m² warehouse with 9,000-ton storage capacity.

South Quay: Total length of 372m, with two berths accommodating vessels up to 200m. Maximum draft of -14m at low tide.
